On Higher Grounds

On Higher Grounds

With most of the country located high in the Andes mountains, the highest capital ( La Paz ) and the highest lake ( Titicaca ), I think it’s safe to say that you can get quite high in Bolivia.
The average temperature is the lowest on the continent and every walk is breath taking – literally, there’s very little oxigen in the air.

And there’s more…
Nowhere else I’ve seen a native culture so well preserved.
In bolivia Quechua is still an official language and the traditional clothing is very much seen in every day life.

But the country is poor… very poor.
With no exit to the sea and the mines as good as dry, it’s almost impossible to build a decent economy.
As a consequence, the country is also cheap… ridiculously cheap.
This makes it an ideal destination for travellers on a budget, or for anyone who likes culture, nature and good food for almost no money.
